Sildenafil citrate is an effective drug for erectile dysfunction in adult men. It works by increasing the blood flow in the penis, facilitating an erection. This treatment has been shown to be effective for many men with erectile dysfunction.

Results
A total of 442 men (aged 19 to 67 years) with BPH were evaluated for sildenafil citrate (Viagra) treatment at baseline and 6 weeks. The mean age was 62.4 ± 14.6 years (range 25 to 75 years). Of these, 95% of men (n = 398) had erectile dysfunction, and the median time to improvement was 4.5 (range 1 to 13) months.
Among men with erectile dysfunction, mean International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) scores ranged from 0.70 to 3.50 (mean 1.65 ± 0.62) at baseline and from 0.80 ± 0.50 at 6 weeks. The mean IIEF scores were significantly higher in men with an IIEF score of 2.40 ± 1.00 (mean 1.00 ± 0.40) at baseline and a score of 3.00 ± 1.00 (mean 1.50 ± 0.67) at 6 weeks.
